Why is this so cheap?

These are Linux containers (LXC), not full virtual machines. A container runs directly on the host's Linux kernel instead of booting its own operating system on top of a hypervisor. There is no second kernel to feed, no virtual BIOS, no emulated hardware — so more of the CPU, RAM and NVMe on the node goes to your workload instead of to overhead.

From the inside it behaves like the server you expect: full root SSH access, your own dedicated IP addresses, your own firewall, package manager and services, with your choice of Debian, Ubuntu, AlmaLinux or Rocky Linux.

The trade-off is that containers are Linux only and share the host kernel, so you cannot load your own kernel or run Windows. For the everyday things people put on a small server — websites, bots, APIs, monitoring, development boxes — that trade-off is invisible, and the price difference is not.

What is a Linux container (LXC) and how is it different from a KVM VPS?

A Linux container runs on the host's kernel instead of booting its own, so there is no hypervisor overhead and more of the hardware goes to your workload. That efficiency is why these plans cost a few dollars a year. You still get full root SSH access, your own IP addresses and your choice of Linux distribution. Containers are Linux only and cannot run a custom kernel or Windows — if you need that, a KVM VPS is the right product.

Is DDoS protection really included?

Yes. Every plan on this page includes DDoS protection at no extra cost. It is listed on every product in the store because it is part of the product, not an add-on.

Are backups included?

Weekly automatic backups are included free on every plan. At checkout you can upgrade to twice-weekly backups for $5.95/year or daily backups for $11.95/year, or turn them off if you handle backups yourself.

What does “IPv6 Only” mean, and is it usable?

IPv6 Only plans come with a /64 IPv6 subnet and no IPv4 address, which is what makes them the cheapest plans on the page. They suit workloads that talk to IPv6-capable endpoints: bots, monitoring probes, tunnel endpoints, dev boxes, anything behind a CDN or proxy that handles IPv4 for you. If you later need a public IPv4, you can add a dedicated address at checkout for $24/year.

Which operating systems can I choose?

Debian 13, Debian 12, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, AlmaLinux 10, AlmaLinux 9, Rocky Linux 10 and Rocky Linux 9. You pick the template on the order form, so the container is ready with the distribution you want.

Are there setup fees or hidden costs?

No. The setup fee is $0 and the annual price shown on the card is the total due at checkout. The only extras are optional and priced up front: additional IPv4 addresses at $24/year each and upgraded backup schedules from $5.95/year. Plans are billed annually; prices are in USD, with GBP also available in the store.

Which payment methods do you accept?

PayPal, credit and debit cards, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, Alipay, Bancontact, iDEAL, India UPI, WebPay Chile, OXXO Mexico and dozens of other localised banking options.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

What is not allowed on these plans?

The usual: no BitTorrent or peer-to-peer file sharing, no cryptocurrency mining, no public proxy sites, no spam or unsolicited bulk mail, nothing illegal. Websites, bots, APIs, databases, monitoring, development environments and self-hosted apps are all fine. The full list is in the Terms of Service.
